Everyday we hear These Words from families -
"We just can't imagine what it would be like if The McDade House hadn't existed."
Most Ark-La-Tex families know this all too well because medical emergencies can be devastating physically, emotionally, and financially. And even when medical treatments are covered by insurance most often, related living expenses are not. That's why we want to remind you today about the accommodations at our Hospital Hospitality House. We want to tell you about a unique non-profit organization that reaches out to families struggling with medical crisis.
The McDade House each year reaches out to approximately 1,000 families from the Ark-La-Tex that has an outpatient or a patient seriously ill in one of our local hospitals. The House operates on donations from the quests, foundations, organizations, businesses and churches. Lodging accommodations include parking, private bedrooms with bathroom, room supplies, food staples, and a laundry room.
The McDade House provides hope and help for many families in the Ark-La-Tex. Thanks to donations from caring people helping those in need during one of the most difficult times in their lives. We depend on private donations.
Having a loved one in the hospital or undergoing rehabilitation is hard enough. Being away from home can make it even harder. The McDade House is here to help, to give patients and their families "a place to call home" during their stay in Shreveport/Bossier.
The McDade House has made a vast difference in the lives of over 24,000 outpatients and family members since its opening in 1985. The goals of McDade House continue to be met through the endeavors of our board, volunteers, and generous benefactors from among "you" the public. We provide guests with lodging, room supplies, food staples, and most importantly, emotional and financial support in times of medical crisis.
As the guests have been able to provide only 20%-35% of our annual $210,000.00 operating costs, we must rely on the support of the public and private donations from individuals, businesses, churches and foundations. But you can help too! If each person visiting our web site and reading these words, could send just $30.00, this amount would provide a night's lodging and supportive services to a family in need.
McDade House's mission is provide a “home away from home” for out-of-town families of seriouly ill patients and out-patients from the Ark-LA-Tex receiving medical treatment in one of our area hospitals.
The National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses, of which McDade House is a member, operate as a non-profit facility for patients and their families when confronted with medical emergencies. Each individual "House" assures that a homelike environment is presented for the benefit of persons who must travel to be with a patient or to receive necessary outpatient care.
We Appreciate Your Support!
